Underclassmen, Need Advice? Ask a Senior!

Underclassmen, Need Advice? Ask a Senior!

In the school year of 2014, four Westhampton Beach High School senior students, Aurora MacDonald, Joe Slover, Alex Patricolo, and Sandrius Rimkus, were interviewed to give advice to the underclassmen in order to follow through and be successful.

Being a Senior at WHBHS is a lot of fun. They get to go out to lunch, drive to school, and pretty much do anything they want. Driving to school and going to lunch is a huge benefit because they don’t have to worry about missing the bus and forgetting your lunch at home. But not only does senior year mean having fun, it also includes a lot of work for college applications. Seniors have to be responsible and get their applications in on time and make them the best that they can be.

One question I asked the seniors was, “If you could give one piece of advice to a underclassmen what would it be?”

Aurora said that she would tell freshmen honestly to really focus on school work. One thing she has learned in life is that being the most popular and being talked about the most is seriously not important. She also said that she knows that that’s a typical thing to say, but when college comes around, life will be so much easier for you and you will emotionally be a better person. She thinks one class you should definitely take is Choir with Mr. Rubinstein.

Joe thinks that you should try to have as much fun as you can, don’t let anyone boss you around, and stay with the green A.K.A money. He thinks you should definitely take Business Management because it teaches you about the real world.

Alex said that you should definitely be yourself and do what you can to have an enjoyable high school experience. Don’t be afraid to try new things like a sport or a club. And definitely doing something bold or creative is always cool. He states that one of his favorite high school memories was during his junior year pep rally his friend and him put on a funny performance in front of the whole student body. Alex also thinks that Regents Physics with Mr. Steven Lacker was a great class. He stated, “That man is the bee’s knee’s.”

Sandrius said to just be yourself and enjoy high school before you have to leave and face the real world. Live by, “Just go with it and do you.” Sandrius loved taking anything business related.

Being an upperclassmen will be a lot of fun for you, just keep doing your work, studying, and the hard work will pay off!
