Dominate Till the End

Dominate+Till+the+End

With summer two short months away, WHBHS students are starting to lose interest in school and plan their long-awaited break. This is mainly because of the weather warming up and the last months starting to fly by. For the thought of summer coming a lot of students are giving up.

Most teens are distracted by their phones. By putting these away it will help students stay more focused. Knowing that there are big exams at the end of the year this should be dedicated students because colleges are looking at everything.

Although there are some tips from teachers students students think of this differently. Senior Kayla Hughes says “ I honestly have lost all my motivation, and I don’t know why I have to be here anymore.” Already being accepted into college makes seniors do school differently. Senior Alex Spiz said “ I would say my biggest challenge would be coming to school. Knowing school is ending soon makes it so difficult to want to be in school, especially on those sunny warm days.” Students, especially seniors are having a hard time staying in school (senioritis). Senior Ava Calamita said “The biggest challenge for me staying in school is completing all my assignments knowing summer is right around the corner. All of the seniors that are already accepted into are having no more motivation and barely come to school anymore.

Even though seniors are having a tough time knowing it’s their last year and they feeling the difficulties of being at school. Every other grade is feeling this same way. Everyone just has summer on their mind. Junior Kailyn Cunniff said  “When i think of summer, I think of warm weather, and all the fun things I have planned. One Sad thing is that all my senior friends are leaving next year” When the warmer days come out and you’re in school all you want to do is leave. This is making students think about summer a lot more and do less and less school work every day.  Junior Cooper Wenzel says  “I love being at the beach, being tan, and having so much more freedom”

Some students are already starting to plan things to do over the summer. This can consist of summer camps, college touring, vacations, etc… Junior Sienna Macdonald said  “I am planning on visiting USC and Clemson because I want to study Elementary Ed and minor in business and would love to go to school in the Carolinas.” Students going into their senior year are starting to plan for college.

Knowing summer is coming up is a very difficult time for WHBHS students and even teachers.  English teacher, Mrs Mett provided tips on how we may be able to stay focused in school. “The first tip would be to put their phone away and be present where they are. We have such limited time left together! Let’s enjoy it.  The second tip is to be forward-thinking.  Q4 grades and Regents exam grades are still at stake, and colleges will be looking!”
