Suffering with Senioritis

Suffering+with+Senioritis

Ah… finally, second semester has arrived and the “I don’t care” attitude is showing in even the best of us. This all entails “senioritis” which many seniors catch when the end is near.

Senioritis is defined as a crippling disease that strikes high school seniors. Symptoms include laziness, sweatpants, athletic shorts and shirts, sweatshirts, and the phrase, “I don’t care, I’m already going to college” to be a common excuse to not do any work. A lack of studying, repeated absences, and a generally dismissive attitude are features that come along with this so-called disease.  For most, senioritis starts right after the last college applications and mid-year reports have been sent in.  The only cure to this disease? Graduation.

Here are some helpful tips to survive senioritis.

Number One: Do not slack off too much, as most colleges will ask for your full year report cards. Make sure that you’re keeping your grades within the range they should be.

Two: This is your last year of high school so ENJOY IT.  The last thing you want to do is look back and say to yourself, “I wish I did that differently.” This also means joining clubs you were interested in but for some reason didn’t, going out for the sport you were always curious about, or taking full advantage of what this school has to offer.

Last but not least, make it count. Leave your mark on this school in a way that will last with you and your friends for forever.
