Frost Valley 2014

Sleepovers, snow and seniors. It is the time of year again – the 7th graders took their annual trip to Frost Valley on February 6th and 7th. Although the stay was shortened due to inclement weather, the students still had the time of their lives. A few seniors who volunteered to attend shared details, about the two day trip.

Frost Valley is located in the peaks of the Catskills. They have been hosting schools from around the world for over fifty years. Across the 6,000 acres Frost Valley offers an enthusiastic outdoor educational environment.

Senior Carly Bossong said, “I wanted to go on the Frost Valley trip as a senior because I enjoyed the trip as a 7th grader and wanted to make it as fun for them as my seniors did for me.”

Zach Rignola added, “I wanted to attend the trip because my sister and mom were both going, I enjoyed it as a 7th grader and wanted the experience to be the same for this years group.”

The students were able to participate in multiple activities with their groups such as ice cutting, cable bridge, low ropes, hiking, the castle tour, and orienteering.

Although the activities were a lot of fun, the food was not so good. Jules Robbins felt, “Personally, I didn’t enjoy the food. I had salad for breakfast, lunch and dinner.” Carly agreed, “I lived off cereal and oranges.”

Seniors on the Frost Valley trip take on more responsibilities than as a 7th grader. Carly recalled, “I had a different role this time and I wasn’t as concerned about how I looked the entire time. I enjoyed both experiences at Frost Valley but being a student on the trip and being a senior on the trip were completely different.”

Jules added, “My favorite part of the trip was meeting all of the 7th graders and and bonding with the seniors. We all had a lot of fun!.”
