Faculty Puts Up the Beatdown

Faculty Puts Up the Beatdown

An ultimate showdown was witnessed by the lucky few that attended the Faculty v. Students football game Tuesday, November 19th on the Hurricane gridiron.  This event was organized to support a food drive, in which spectators would donate canned goods upon entry. Although the drive did not fair as fruitful as we hoped, the game remained intense, with a final score of 10-9 for the Faculty.

Key players for the faculty included quarterback Mr. Moran, Mr. Bookamer, Mr. Mattera, Mr. Leogrande, and esteemed MVP Mr. Hoyt.  Bookamer was injured two plays into the game, however he still managed to bump out two touchdowns.  Mattera came through with an interception early in the game, creating a lead for the faculty, and scoring a total of three touchdowns.

If you’ve seen the advertisements posted just about everywhere around the school, you’ll see the only reason why one should’ve attended the game: Mr. Hoyt. Due to his being the lead scorer for the faculty, this man was most definitely the MVP. When asked how the win compared to his previous NCAA championship wins, Hoyt joked, “Definitely tied.  The feeling is just fantastic.  We had expected to win, but it’s always great when it happens, also, I heard we were getting plaques so I’m thrilled.”

Even though the faculty sure did surprise everyone, the key players for the students are still worth mentioning.  Quarterback Steven Tagliavia, Evan Gagne – who before the game claimed, “Considering Walling hasn’t picked a quarterback yet, we are sure to win,” –, Zach Rignola, Eric Silverman, and Matt Higgins.  Even with the loss, you set a new tradition here at our wonderful school.

Well played faculty, and go get ‘em next time boys.
