March Madness made its way to Westhampton Beach High School in the last week of March to boost student morale for the spring sports season.
This year, a new spirit week was added at the end of March. Also, the big event, the Battle of the Classes, where each grade battles for school spirit and different sports competitions, will be returning in June.
For March Madness spirit week, the student government put together themes for each day of the week. Monday was Jersey day, Tuesday was White Out, Wednesday was Dress like a Teacher Day, and Thursday Hurricane Pride Day. This was a fun spirit week before the four day Easter weekend.
At Battle of the Classes, past events have included egg on spoon relays, potato sack races, field goal competitions, 3v3 basketball games, tic tac toe relay, and more. Each grade competes.
Thanks to Dr. Herr and Student Government, we can host these events to bring more school spirit. This also brings students something to look forward to because of all of the Regents and finals that come at the end of the year.
