Westhampton Beach’s boys basketball team got off to a good start to their season with a 61-29 win over cross-town rival Hampton Bays in their first game this year, a great way to start off the year after a 1-16 year last season.

The Hurricanes started off red-hot scoring 23 points in the first quarter and never looked back from there. Junior Devonte Dixon had a game-high 33 points with 7 three-point field goals to go along with 4 free throws.

Senior Luke Dyer added 7 points and Senior Michael Frangeskos and Junior Devon Ware added 6 points as well.

Coach John Baumiller said it was a great team win and looks forward to starting the league schedule next.

The Hurricanes (1-0) next play arch-rival Eastport-South Manor Sharks home on Tuesday, December 10th at 4PM.  Come out and show support for your Hurricanes as they begin their league season!
