The girls cheerleading team welcomed a new coach this year, Alexa Bennett-Rosman, from Rocky Point, and she is bringing with her big! Her goal is to help the team make it to the County Championships!

Cheerleading has always been a part of Coach Alexa’s life. Since eleven years old, she has cheered for the Rocky Point Middle School, JV, and varsity teams, and also worked with an All Star Team during high school. After college, she coached the Mount Sinai cheer team for two years before returning to Rocky Point to coach for nine years.

Coming to WHB has been a big change. Since WHB doesn’t have a middle school or JV program, athletes of all levels are on one big team. “I am adjusting well to the changes,” she said, “and I am very lucky that everyone at WHB has been so welcoming and helpful with all the questions I have had!”

Coach Alexa and the cheerleaders are very excited for the season. Their routine for winter competitions this year incorporates some difficult skills. Their goals are to place in the top five at Regionals in December as well as to extend their season to the county championships for the first time in the team’s history! “Coach Alexa is really hard-working,” says sophomore cheerleader Kara Salvaggio, “and she always puts us first.”

“My favorite thing about cheerleading,” says Coach Alexa, “is watching the athletes grow as individuals and as a team. I love to see them achieve goals they never thought they could and truly fall in love with the sport.”

The girls are very motivated and are working hard in practice every day to achieve their goals. They can’t wait to see where the season brings them!
