Being a class officer in student government entails planning prom, fundraising for your class, volunteering constantly, and lastly preparing for homecoming. Many students don’t realize the amount of work it takes to represent your class, especially during homecoming week.
Every year the teachers vote on best bleachers, best float, and most spirit. Last year, seniors won best float, sophomores won best bleachers, and freshmen won most spirit. When asked about the stress of homecoming, Junior Class Secretary Laura Halsey said, “It’s a lot of work, but it’s so worth it if your class wins something!”
This year, juniors won best bleachers and freshmen won best spirit. When asked about their success, Junior Class Vice President Emily Beaver responded, “I’m so happy we won best bleachers! We had a bunch of really committed people who helped out over the weekend and Friday morning.”
Many people stress out during homecoming week due to the amount of effort put into working on the float and bleachers. However, when it comes to homecoming, the most important thing is having fun. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, as long as you enjoy doing it!
