The Class of 2014 has finally reached the top of the high school food chain. Seniors Jules Robbins, Natalie Reilly, and Eric Hayes shared some insight into what its like to finally be a senior.
There are definite benefits to being a senior at WHB. Jules’ favorite part is “being the oldest kids in the school, everyone looks up to you.” Natalie feels, “The best part about being a senior is being able to do what I want when I want because I’m superior in every way of the word.” Eric said, “I basically run the school.”
Natalie has also taken advantage of driving to school so she can leave during lunch. “I just like going home to lay down and recover before coming back.” Another major privilege of becoming a senior is going out to lunch, however Jules thinks, “The new policy really makes it ten times harder just to leave the school.”
Classes as a senior are “definitely more fast paced but nothing too difficult,” according to Natalie. Jules agreed, saying, “My classes are all relatively easy.” Eric said, “My favorite class is Geology/Meteorology.”
Applying to colleges is an extremely stressful as well as an exciting part of being a senior. Jules said, “I am almost finished with my college essay, so now I just need to fill out common app and apply to the schools on my list.” These school include York College, SUNY Plattsburgh, University of Pittsburgh, and Drexel University, where she hopes to study nursing.
Natalie is “definitely behind in the college process,” but is “slowly trudging along catching up.” Although she is having a little bit of a hard time, she has already applied to York College, and is also interested in “SUNY and Pratt in the city.”
Eric is looking forward to graduation and going off to college. He is applying to Springfield, Quinnipiac, Merchant Marine Academy, among others.
Even thought these seniors are already off to a great start of the year, they all have things to look forward to. Eric said, “I plan on getting good grades and kicking a football better than Max Pastor, even though I already do.”
Natalie is simply “looking to have a fantastic final year.”
