¿Has estado alguna vez en el MoMA? ¡Hemos!
Translation: Have you ever been to the MoMA? We have!
On Friday February 11th a group of 36 WHBHS Spanish IV students along with Spanish teachers: Ms. Flatley, Ms. DeBrita, Ms. DeStefano and Ms. Flores ventured to the Museum of Modern Art on West 53rd Street in Manhattan.
The students entered the MoMA and took to the fifth floor to explore various works of art by renowned Spanish artists including Picasso, Frida Khalo, Salvador Dali, and Diego Rivera. They then were allowed to roam the Museum, viewing pieces by Andy Warhol, Monet, Van Gogh, and Ray Lichtenstein.
When asked their opinions on the trip, some students were brutally honest, Junior, Dylan Nill said, “I only liked the trip because we got to miss school.”
Some had more positive things to say like Junior Alaaddin Baskurt who said, “My favorite part was running around with Brett Ryan. I’d want to go again if it was with her.”
Some of the students even had opinions on the art (go figure), like Junior Brandon Pereyra. “My favorite work of art was the “fat tiger” (Tiger by Morris Hirschfield) because some viewed the tiger as an ugly beast, but I saw it as a successful predator.”
Overall the trip was a success! Spanish teacher Ms. Flores said, “I’d definitely take another trip, everyone was so involved with the tour!”
