As a Rotary Exchange student from Indonesia, I can speak first hand about the benefits of the Rotary Youth Exchange Program (YEP). Adventure. New culture. New language. New International friends. Maturity. The best year of your life, and a broader view of the world!
All over the world, kids are dreaming about going to somewhere new. Rotary Youth Exchange Program (YEP) makes it possible! This year, 14 exchange students came to Long Island. Three came to Westhampton and attend WHBHS! They are Filip Leskovsky (Slovakia), Constanza Montero (Chile), and myself, Maria Clarabella (Indonesia).
Personally I feel that the U.S. is awesome! The weather so different compare to Indonesia. I’m cold!
Filip agreed. He said, “U.S. is cool—everything is so different in here!”
Constanza didn’t have much to say. She said, “I can’t speak a lot of English – not yet!”
I’ve found that the world is actually a small place and people from different cultures have the same needs: a safe, comfortable, and satisfying environment that allows us to enjoy life. YEP is the best way for students to have a taste of different cultures. It is a powerful force in promoting international understanding and peace by exposing youth to different cultures.
If you dream of going overseas in the Rotary Exchange program, come to Interact Meetings every Wednesday and meet Mrs. Kerr and Mrs. Einstman.
