This year is the 5th year running the Key Club annual sweatshirt contest where any WHBHS student can submit their sweatshirt designs!
Key Club was motivated to introduce the Sweatshirt contest because when looking for unique ways to raise money and since Canes locker was clothing related, a sweatshirt contest felt fitting.
Once all the designs were submitted, members of Key Club voted for the top six designs then the whole school voted on the winning design.
Typically there is one winning design but this year there were two winning designs. The designs are then put on sweatshirts and hoodies to be sold to the WHB community.
The money raised goes to Canes’ Locker, a place where students who are in need of necessities such as clothes.
Money raised from the sweatshirt contest is used to buy more specific items for Canes Lockers that are not received in donations like underwear, socks, bedding, and more. In some cases when a social worker asks for Key Club they can assist in buying prom dresses and suits.
Typically it is expected to raise anywhere in between $1000-4000 from the sweatshirt contest. Last year Key Club raised around $3000, which exceeded expectations.
This year despite there being two sweatshirt designs Key Club is not predicting to raise more than previous years and is hoping to raise around $2000.
