Do you have a love for music? Would you like to learn how to record sound properly? If so, BOCES for Audio Production may be just what you have been looking for.

You may be asking yourself, what is audio production? “Audio production is anything that has to do with the production of sound,” said Meghan Renna, a second year student in BOCES for Audio Production.

Many students who decide to take this BOCES course do so because of their love for music. Alison Cappabianca stated, “I wanted to expand my knowledge of recording to hopefully further myself in the music industry.” Knowledge of audio production can be incredibly helpful to people looking to become musicians. Even if you are not looking to produce your own sound, if you are knowledgeable of how it’s done, you will be able to communicate to the audio engineer and input how you would like to sound.

A background in audio production can also lead to careers in audio engineering, forensic audio, audio for games, commercials, or radio shows. You could also become involved in the creation of jingles or sound effects for movies.

The Audio Production BOCES course teaches students the fundamentals of audio production, as well as gives them the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the studio.

Upon graduation from the course, students receive a certificate of completion, an employability profile that shows their specific strengths and weaknesses, a resume that they build during the course, and a portfolio including all the projects that they have done throughout the program.

So are you still on the fence about whether or not you want to take audio production? Students in the Audio Production program feel that anyone who is questioning if they want to take it or not, should definitely take it. If you have any interest in music or hope to possibly enter a musical field at some point in the future, audio production may be your ticket there.
