“My middle school and high school band directors really got me inspired to look in to it more you know, and I think they opened my eyes to everything. At that point I decided you know what I want to pursue music. This is my seventeenth year teaching. Yeah this has been my only job. Let’s see, you have to truly enjoying teaching and making music because you’re not there for the paycheck. You know your not there for the salary the main focus is not on those things. You’re there because you really enjoy giving that experience of music to other people, and just teaching. You know, that along with music you’ve got to really know your instrument. Be prepare for college auditions, and you know not to wait until halfway through your senior year and say ‘you know what, I think I’ll try out for music.’ It doesn’t work that way. You have to have it in the back of your mind earlier on. Start getting private lessons, and start training for it well in advance.”
