It’s hard to believe, but teachers aren’t robots; they have emergencies too. On Friday, September 14th, we were all held back a few minutes in fourth period due to a scare from science teacher, Mr. Broich.
It was a normal school day when Mr. Broich fell back into his seat, terrified that he was having a heart attack. “I was very anxious,” Broich said. The students in his class acted accordingly when he told one to go to the Main Office, one to call the Main Office, and one to get another teacher.
“Someone get the nurse was the first thing he said,” Spencer, a sophomore, said recapping the scene. According to Spencer the remaining students in the room kept Mr. Broich stable until help could get to him. One girl in the class had voluntarily gone down to the nurse for immediate help because, according to Spencer, “It was taking a long time,”
After leaving school in an ambulance, Mr. Broich was released from the hospital the next day with the conclusion that it wasn’t a heart attack, but Costochondritis- an inflammation in the upper ribs that connect the cartilage to the sternum.
“Well, the early morning signs were there and I, um, ignored them in the late morning and paid for them in the afternoon,” Broich commented.
