The International Food Festival is an event looked forward to every year by students and teachers alike. The vast smorgasbord of diverse global cuisine is an interesting treat for everyone.

As usual the most popular turn out was the Irish Soda Bread, which was fitting as St. Patrick’s Day was around the corner. A close runner up for most frequent appearance was the saucy combo of chips and salsa or guacamole. It was quite refreshing to have a taste of authentic regional food like that when there are so many pre-packaged versions of the same thing. Additionally there were dishes that made a popular return, especially senior Emi Osaki’s sushi platter.

Some other international treats topped the list for most popular, like sophomore Daniela Robles’s renowned empanadas. Empanadas, a Latin staple, are little bread pastries stuffed with meat, usually, but Robles likes to fill hers with dulce de leche and cover them with cinnamon and sugar to create a sweet dessert. “I made some with pineapple too this year just to switch it up a bit,” Robles added. Overall, the International Food Festival was quite the success.

In addition to all of the wonderful food, all of the proceeds from the event were collected and donated to the Live Your Cor foundation in honor of Cory Hubbard.
