Plunge Into a Good Cause

The Plungers right before they went in the ocean!

The Plungers right before they went in the ocean!

The second annual Student Government Polar Bear Plunge took place Sunday December 14th  at Rogers Beach. The plunge came about to help raise money for Adopt-A-Family, so student government can buy presents for their family.

This year with a combination of donations, bake sale funds, and the plunge they raised over $1,100 for Adopt-A-Family.  Last year they made a little over $1,200.

Senior Emma Galasso and president of Student Government said that her favorite part of the plunge was, “seeing everyone rush into the water at one time.” She added, “We really lucked out this year, it was gorgeous! Some people were even brave enough to go back in a second time.”

Emma would like to thank Student Government advisors Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Juma for their support as well as the entire club, the Westhampton Volunteer Ambulance, Senior Robert Dunning and Junior Caity DeCara for lifeguarding and Hampton Coffee Company for the hot drinks for the plungers!

The Polar Bear Plunge is both a fun and exciting way to raise money. Thank you everyone who participated and for those who didn’t there’s still next year!
