On Wednesday June 4th, all the top senior athletes at Westhampton Beach attended the Senior Sports Awards dinner at the Westhampton Country Club. Everyone arrived by 7:00, showing up one after another. Guys wore suits and ties, and girls wore formal dresses. Everyone sat at an assigned table, and student tables were split up according to sports teams. The entreé for the night was chicken parmesan and pasta with sauce, and for dessert warm fudge brownies, and chocolate chip cookies. After  dinner, the students lined up in alphabetical order and got announced with a short individual biography by athletic director Ms. Masterson. Then the awards started.

Individual awards were giving out to certain for a variety of different reasons. Awards were based on sports played, grades, good character, attitude towards playing sports, sportsmanship, and many more. Most winners received only one award, but a few athletes, Lauren Smith, Alexa Smith, Kyle Maddock, and Emma Gristina, won multiple awards.

Steve Tagliavia won the Joe Taylor Award which was given to the athlete who played football and lacrosse who showed good character on and off the field, and has a great smile and arm. The Carl Hansen award was given out to the two girls and two guys who show sportsmanship, good character, and voted on by all the coaches.  The winners were Lauren Smith, Emma Gristina, Kyle Maddock, and Cooper Lacetera.

The night finished after 20 awards were given, and surprisingly, it was finished before 9:00. It was a very nice evening to compliment a great athletic Class of 2014.
