Is this the real life…….is this just fantasy?

Hockey is a sport that seems to take a back seat here at WHB, but recently a new way to get involved into hockey has been making an appearance. Fantasy sports are a great way to express and challenge your knowledge and love of any sport and hockey has recently been added to that fantasy sport realm.

Fantasy hockey works just as all other fantasy sports do, you start with a draft before the season starts, and change around what player you play, either daily or weekly, based on how they’re doing and how you think they’ll do. Players that do well will gain your team points, by either scoring goals, making assists etc. Many different things can gain you a point in fantasy hockey, but, you can also lose points. Goaltenders can both gain or lose points for your team. If your goalie plays a bad game and lets up a couple of goals they will most likely lose you points, but if they get a win and give up few to no goals, they will gain you points. There are certain different scoring and league systems, daily or weekly lineup changes and different systems of tallying points. You don’t have to be an expert, or even an avid hockey fan to enjoy playing fantasy. Just do research before your draft and know what players to grab and who to stay away from. When you join a league for the first time it may seem confusing but you eventually get the hang of it.
