The seemingly endless amounts of snow we faced this winter overwhelmed students and faculty. What’s worrying students is what will happen if we have to use another snow day. I spoke to Principal Mr. Herr and Superintendent Mr. Schwartz to get the scoop on the snow day situation.
According to Mr. Herr, the school allots two snow days each year. So far we’ve used both of those snow days, first on January 12th and then another on January 27th.
You might be wondering if this will take away the Friday of Memorial weekend. To that Mr. Herr says, “We are going to be here the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. According to the school calendar we never had it off. If we had only used one snow day there was a possibility we could have had it off.”
For the dilemma of what will happen if we use another snow day I had to go straight to the man in charge, Superintendent Mr. Schwartz. He said if we use a third day it’s possible that a day would come off spring break. But it would be a big decision to make and he and the Board of Education would have to think it over carefully.
This year’s groundhog failed to see his shadow, which means he’s predicting an early spring. Hopefully his forecast will be true and we won’t see any more snow!
