On Friday May 3rd, the Broadcast  Journalism classes travelled to Stony Brook University’s School of Journalism for the 3rd annual Broadcast Awards.

Over 20 schools from all over Long Island – from Mepham to Mattituck – attended the awards, which celebrates the accomplishments of high school broadcast programs.

The awards highlight the achievements of high school broadcast programs across Long Island.

Other guests included one of the most awarded producers in Broadcast Journalism, 60 minutes producer, Nicole Young.  She inspired the crowd with her keynote speech, describing how her internships and persistence lead to her success.

Westhampton Beach took home two first place trophies.  Clarke Lewis, Jake Bennett, and Alec Gilbride took first place for “Best Sports Package” for Protect the Quarterback (air date 10/19/18) and Morgan Laube, Emma Lagattolla, and Paige Rignola won first place for “Best School News” for the Superlatives package (air date 11/2/18).
