April Fools

April Fools

April Fools Day is a day celebrated on the 1st day of April, and is a day when people play practical jokes or hoaxes on each other. April Fools Day was started in 1842 when a man by the name of Abraham Lincoln trained his dog to fly a hot air balloon. Everybody thought that it was actually a dog flying the balloon, but it was actually just Sasquatch. Every year after that, people around the country, and eventually the world, pranked and hoaxed their friends, just for laughs. April Fools!

April Fools Day was actually started In 1582 when Pope Gregory XIII created a new calendar (our current Gregorian Calendar) to replace the old Julian Calendar. The new calendar placed New Year’s Day on Jan. 1. That year, France adopted the reformed calendar and moved New Year’s day to Jan. 1. Apparently, many people either refused to accept the new date, or did not learn about it, and continued to celebrate New Year’s Day on April 1. Others began to make fun of these traditionalists, sending them on “fool’s errands” or trying to trick them into believing something false. Eventually, the practice spread throughout Europe, and eventually came to be celebrated all over the world.

So this April 1st, have fun by pranking your friends. Put super glue in their toothpaste, shave their head while they’re sleeping, or you could fill their hair dryer with baby powder. As long as you say “April Fools” after the prank, it’s all ok.

April Fools again, you probably shouldn’t do any of that stuff.
