Looking for an unforgettable vacation in 2023? WHB’s top travelers Adrien Dellaert and Hailey Donahoe share their favorite locations and where they plan to travel. Along with the CNTraveler’s top places to travel in 2023.

Adrien Dellaert, a WHBHS sophomore and a frequent traveler, will be traveling to multiple places in 2023. He is going to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, Playa Colorados in Nicaragua, Big Sky, Montana, and Belgium.

Adrien normally travels over all the school breaks, but is also going to Belgium in the summer. He has been to all these awesome vacation spots except for Nicaragua and Montana. While in Montana he is most excited to, “Ski with my family and friends in the sick powder.”

In Nicaragua, he is most excited to, “Surf with professionals and my family.” Adrien can’t wait to go back to both Belgium and the Dominican Republic.

He said, “I can’t wait to see my family in Belgium and go wakeboarding at the cable parks. In Punta Cana, I’m so excited to go jet skiing and to meet new people.”

Another WHBHS sophomore, Hailey Donahoe, has been to many places and is traveling this 2023. For Christmas break, she is going to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. She is going with her mom, sister, grandma, uncle, and baby cousin.

She said, “I am so excited to go to a new place since I normally go to Aruba every year. I’m most excited to be away from the cold and to be in the ocean, tanning, snorkeling, and meeting new people.”

Every Christmas break, Hailey usually goes to her favorite place, Aruba. She said, “I would definitely recommend Aruba for anyone. It is so much fun and a great vacation.”

CNTraveler is always inspired by locations and activities that they want to check off their bucket lists. To begin the process of creating this list, the widely traveled network of writers from around the world pitch, promote, defend, and ultimately link on the destinations they believe includes both well-known destinations worth revisiting and less-traveled, even once-forbidden, locales that are eager to welcome visitors. Whether you’re looking for spectacular adventures into ancient jungles, a developing food culture, or dazzling social calendars packed with top-notch music and exclusive art shows, there’s something here for every kind of traveler.

The top recommendation is for Auckland, New Zealand, due to its cultural and sporting events, new hotels, and enhanced airline accessibility. The island country is making significant preparations for the massive influx of international tourists expected in the upcoming year, particularly in Auckland after COVID. With nonstop flights presently operating from six American cities, air connectivity with the United States is better than ever. The fourth-longest leg in the world, Air New Zealand’s nearly-17-hour flagship trip from New York City, made its debut in September. A direct route from Australia’s Qantas to New York City is scheduled to start in June 2023. Along with the well-liked Lantern Festival, which will take place in February 2023 to commemorate Chinese New Year, Auckland’s jam-packed events schedule appears to be making up for lost time.

After a two-year break, Pasifika, the biggest Pacific Island cultural event in the world, will resume in March 2023. The $350M eco-sensitive Te Wananga waterfront development on Quay Street is just one of Auckland’s newest attractions that visitors have yet to see; there will be a number of glitzy hotel launches over the next three years as well. If you decide to go farther into Aotearoa, Great Journeys, a luxury rail company, offers brand-new multi-day itineraries that leave from Auckland Rail Station. According to appearances, Auckland will finally have its day to shine in 2023. The top 23 list from CNTraveler includes so many exciting and lovely places, including Auckland, New Zealand.
