Freezin’ For a Reason

On December 6th Student Government hosted their third annual Polar Bear Plunge. Chase Rubio and Caity DeCara explained that the polar bear plunge is about raising money for adopt-a-family, an organization that helps struggling families have an enjoyable Christmas.

This year there was a great turn out of about 40-50 people. Chase says “I was happy with the turnout this year, it is similar to last year’s we are slowly gaining a few more plunges each year.” They raised about $400-$500 dollars for adopt-a-family this year, and they are so thankful for everyone that plunged or just donated to the cause.

The Polar Bear Plunge was a great way to get active during the weekend and hang out with friends, while still raising money for a great cause. Even though the water was about 50 degrees, and participants had to run to get their towel right after, it was still super fun and something everyone should start doing to help raise money for adopt-a-family.

DeCara says” I look forward to organizing other events this school year that involve helping the community and also that involve the WHB student body (maybe a color run? Who knows!)“

Hopefully next year Student Government will get even more brave plungers to raise more money for adopt-a-family since it is such an incredible cause.
