QB Clarke Lewis looks to pass to Dylan Laube

Heading into Saturday’s game, with Hills West ranked #2 on Long Island, the predictions were clear:  The Hurricanes (ranked #5 on Long Island) had no chance of winning against Hills West.

However the Canes let the doubters know: time to update those rankings.

Injuries to five of the Hurricanes’ starters have changed the Canes line-up, but the second string is stepping up, defeating Bellport in last Friday night’s season opener in a nail biter, 42-38.  Saturday’s 33-7 victory has made the Hurricanes a storm to reckon with in Division III.

The Canes controlled the ball on both sides the entire game, allowing only seven points on a punt return.

Senior stand-out Dylan Laube finished with over 300 yards (including a 92 yard punt return) and three touchdowns.  Nolan Quinlan and QB Clarke Lewis added the other two touchdowns.

The Canes are home this weekend, September 23, against rival ESM at 2:00.  Come out and support your Canes!
