Voted “Most athletic,” Lauren Smith is in her last high school season ever and is hoping to make a playoff run with the girl’s varsity lacrosse team.

In lacrosse Lauren plays as the core of the defense, the backer. She follows the ball to each opposing player and is always ready to step in and double the ball whenever the attacker comes into the eight meter mark. Lauren excels in any position she is thrown into.

Playing for a new coach this year Lauren said, “I was extremely nervous. For the seniors, it was scary having so much uncertainty going into our last sports season. We all knew that everything was going to be so different, but didn’t realize the extent. Coming in, Coach Bergmann and Coach Jackson knew none of us, so it was like starting all over. But, so far it has been fun and I cannot wait to see how the rest of our season ends up.”

Lauren has been playing with many of the girls on her team since the second grade. She thinks, “it has been interesting to see how much we’ve grown since PAL and how much of a family we are.

Growing up as a 3 sport athlete the fact that this is Lauren’s last high school sport hasn’t even sunk in yet for her. Lauren said, “I haven’t thought about it at all. But I think once we get to the second half of our season, it will hit me.” As of now Lauren isn’t positive she will be playing lacrosse in college, but she is hoping to walk on to the lacrosse team once she chooses her school.
