With winter track ending, spring track is just around the corner. This spring, the boys’ track team is expected to break records. The team is excited about the upcoming season and is hoping to qualify leagues.

Coach Ford, Coach McDonald, and Coach Nilson coach the boys’ spring track team. Track is a huge commitment depending on the person. To the serious runners, track is an extreme commitment than maybe compared to the less serious runner. According to Alex Patricolo, “you need to be able to attend practices five days a week, and need to be around on weekends for the occasional meet.”

Typical practices include stretching, warm-ups, separate trainings, and cool downs. Sometimes, everyone participates in quarters, which are 6-8 lap workouts. Alex said they are “brutal” and senior Eric Silverman added that they “run a lot” during practices. Junior Roger Llivisaca said he runs spring track because he “likes running and pole vaulting. There are a lot of kids that do track and it’s fun to be around everyone.” Eric Silverman and Alex Patricolo agreed and also added that they like “meeting new people and the Invitational.”

The track team is extremely close and can always be seen hanging out with each other in their free time. Alex said his best friends are Roger, Eric, Graham Brown, Chase Golding, Khai Henderson, Chris Razzano, RJ Holman, David Nowak, Wyatt Richter, and Mike Gatusso. They consider each other each other’s best friends on the team.

Everyone can agree that they are excited for this season and are super excited for leagues. Come out and support the boys’ track team!
