Hurricane Watch, a show produced by Broadcast Journalism students, is aired every Friday morning.

Sophomore Matt Tobin loves it. ‘’I believe the Hurricane Watch is a way to ‘blow off steam’ on a Friday. The weeklong anticipation of the five minute presentation excites me to the point that when the inconsistency of the show occurs, and it does not play, my Friday is ruined and for the rest of the day I show a modicum of happiness.’’  Matt is speaking of this past Friday, when the show did not air.

Some students love the Watch so much that they think it should be longer. Eric Caldwell and Eric Franco both believe the Watch should be extended.

Mr. Berkhout, another fan of Hurricane Watch, says, ‘’I think it’s a good experience. I would like to see more important real world events and more researched-based packages, but the productive and entertainment value is just great.’’

Ms. Phillips, who teaches the course and serves as the show’s advisor, explains that what is broadcast on the show is chosen by the students; it’s a student produced show, and she thinks that is what makes it so special.  “Some shows are better than others – it’s all part of the learning process,” she said.
