Deciding where to go for lunch is an everyday struggle faced by many seniors at WHBHS. Because of the wide variety of places to eat and large number of delis in Westhampton Beach, a lot of people argue over which is the best. Sydney’s gourmet deli at 103 Main Street is definitely the place to go for lunch.
Sydney’s is located on Main Street, which is very convenient so you don’t have to go too far from the school. People might think the location is what draws students to the deli, although it’s the delicious gourmet food they prepare and the low price. Senior Joe DiBenedetto says, “It’s a great deal for the kids to have a humungous filling sandwich with a drink for 8 bucks. I order the sandwich named after me, the Joe, which is chicken cutlet, tomato, lettuce, melted mozzarella, bacon, and Russian dressing…mmm delicious.”
Sydney’s knows that their deli is a hotspot for students, which is why they give the students at WHB a great deal for lunch. It is only $8 dollars for a sandwich with whatever you want on it and you can have whatever drink you want. You get a card with the discount on it and every time you purchase this $8 dollar bargain, they hole punch the card. When you purchase the student discount 10 times or when you get 10 hole-punches in the card, you can get a free lunch. Senior Kyle Rubin says, “It’s the best deal in town and the food’s great. I recommend getting the Big Greasy at least once, it’s a sandwich named after Joe DiBenedetto.”
The owner of Sydney’s, Erin, always makes you feel comfortable when you’re in there and caters to all your needs. They will be happy to make whatever kind of sandwich you want. Senior Chris Rothe highly recommends the upcoming senior class to go and eat there for lunch. “I’m not much of a Big Greasy guy, I usually go with the soup and half a sandwich.” After you eat, you will walk out of there with a full stomach and a smile on your face.
