Battle of the Music Streamers: Spotify vs. iTunes

Battle of the Music Streamers: Spotify vs. iTunes

For years people have been buying music from iTunes but in recent years, July 14, 2011 to be exact, people have been using Spotify instead. If you’ve been living under a rock for three years and don’t know what Spotify is, then read on and you’ll find out.

Spotify is a music streaming service that allows people to listen to music for free, or pay $9.99 a month for an ad free experience. You can make playlists to share with friends or you can keep them privately for yourself.

Recently, artists like Taylor Swift, have pulled their music from Spotify because they believe it is bringing down sales and the music business is losing money. That is completely true but also extremely unfair to people who can’t afford to buy the music.

“I don’t really prefer one over the other but, I don’t find it fair that artists are pulling their music from Spotify.” Junior, Amy Pribanic, stated. Allie Ostie, Junior, added, “Some people can’t afford to buy music which is why Spotify is good.”

Many people use both Spotify and iTunes and although people are saying that iTunes will be leaving us in the near feature, Spotify is here to stay for a while. Unless you want to listen to Taylor Swift, you’ll always have good luck finding music you love on spotify.
