WHB’s Rotary Interact held a bake sale in the back lobby for the past five Tuesdays to provide raise money for Adopt-a-Family.

Through the bake sale, the club members of Rotary Interact have become closer and more involved. By having people sign up to sell or give in baked goods to be sold, the majority of the members of Rotary were able to help in some way.  To learn more about the the bake sale I spoke to Mrs. Kearns, the advisor of Rotary Interact.

Hurricane Eye: Who came up with the idea of having a bake sale?

Mrs. Kearns: It was the officers who came up with it when we were in the middle of throwing different ideas around.

HE: Are you satisfied with your choice?

MK: Absolutely. This was a better way to go because we have over 60 members so more kids were able to get involved.

HE: What was our goal and did we reach it?

MK: We were hoping for $200 per sale but we made $750. Also the French Club was kind enough to donate $40 from their bake sale.

HE: How much money do we usually use for Adopt-A-Family?

MK: Last year we spent $1000, so we plan on the same amount for this year.

HE: How do you think this will affect the remaining things to be done before Christmas?

MK: Well in the past we didn’t get the whole club involved, it was only the officers who went shopping, so when wrapping time came, it wasn’t as meaningful. But this year people were able to get excited about by participating in the bake sale.

Thank you to all who have participated in the bake sale and for helping make a family’s Christmas special!
