Along the Western coast of the Pacific Ocean near Southeast Asia lies a sovereign island country known as the Philippines. Recently, a tragic typhoon hit the tropical island.

At 200 mph, Typhoon Haiyan destroyed, damaged, and murdered the people of cities; Samar, Panay and Leyte. With more than 5,000 people already dead from the destruction of the Typhoon alone, the death toll is continuing to rise. Without the necessities of survival, the victims of the typhoon are suffering without water, food and shelter. As part of the Island is washed out, men, women, and children are rummaging through the memories and leftovers of their deceased home.

This is where WHB can take action. With the help of the C.U.R.E. club and Mr. Kommer, a few events will be organized to help raise money for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan. The admired marine biology teacher, Mr. Kommer said, “We are not 100% sure on which charity the money will be given to but we have gotten in contact with the Philippine Ambassador.” He continued, “The idea was something the kids came up with.”

To take part in this action, each lunch period will have a collection available to donate money for the suffering victims of Typhoon Haiyan. So while your stuffing your face with a sandwich, be sure to donate any spare change you may have because a little donation can make a big difference.
