The roaring ‘20s, one of the most well-known time periods in American history, comes to life in the beloved novel The Great Gatsby. Juniors Ella Collins, Carly Rubin, and Allie Brezinski tell why the junior class just can’t get enough.

“What interests me most about the book is that how in each chapter there’s a new thing that surprises you that no one could be able to see coming,” said Carly Rubin.

Don’t be discouraged if you don’t already know about the roaring ‘20s, the novel puts you in the characters’ shoes so you are able to comprehend the lifestyle they lived. Allie and Ella both agree the most interesting part was learning all about the time period.

Everyone seems to love Jay Gatsby as well. “He’s got something about him that makes him so mysterious and intriguing. He’s so svelte and smooth,” admitted Allie. Carly also added, “My favorite character from the book has to be Gatsby because he is so charming and smooth; I just wish he was my boyfriend. I’m basically super jealous of Gatsby’s outreach to Daisy to try and win her back.”

Ella Collins also found the book to be very intriguing, she said, “I think the whole love story and how they portray Gatsby as such an amazing and successful person is why everyone loves the book.”

All three girls would recommend this book to all types of readers and agree it’s one of their favorites!

On Friday, juniors will be celebrating all things Gatsby with a party in the library.  Check back for a recap from Kiera Solomon.
