When the school year at WHB wraps up, a number of students shift to their summer jobs at the Quogue Beach Club. They take on a mix of different responsibilities while building friendships and a community.
The Quogue Beach Club, founded in 1919, is a popular club where families who summer in the Hamptons enjoy their days in the sun.
At the beach club, jobs can vary from preparing and serving food to guests, to checking members in and maintaining a clean, sanitary environment. Some students are even lifeguards, keeping watch on the shimmering shore, to ensure the safety of all members.
No matter what job they are performing, the QBC staff are gaining experience and responsibility by collaborating with others and gaining new skills.
Bailey Hudson, who has worked at QBC for four years, said, “The different kinds of people who work there is what makes the environment so unique because you are ‘forced’ to work and socialize with people you wouldn’t normally, but it makes you a more well-rounded person.”
The people who work at the Quogue Beach Club are what make it such a great place to work.
Chris Cooper, who is also entering his fourth year at QBC, said, “QBC is a great first job where you can make lots of friends.”
Bailey added, “Employees range from 14 year olds to college graduates, and there is such a variation of personality types.”
The community created by the QBC staff is what makes it such a special place for the members. Make sure to look out for the club next time you are driving down Dune Road!
