The Westhampton Beach baseball team is continuing to work and prove everyone wrong. This year’s record was 2-18, with injuries and replacements scattered throughout the team.
Sophomore middle infielder Liam McGinness said that some challenges the team faced this year were getting the big hit in situations needed. Keeping his sights fixed on the future, Liam said, “Next year my goal is to strike out 60 batters and win a Suffolk County Championship.”
When interviewing junior Jude Allen (LHP/1B), he emphasized how “setbacks are always going to happen no matter what you do and sometimes you just have to roll with it.” The junior talked about how he and his teammates just had to ignore the setbacks and go out there and have fun.
One of the injuries that that team had to overcome was from junior right-hander Luke Hefter. Luke said, “Being injured this season made me realize not to take any game or practice for granted because you never know what can happen, and things can change so fast.”
Cooper Daniels, a junior 3rd basemen is already looking into the future and is excited for next season. “We have a good amount of sophomores coming up to varsity and a very experienced junior class.”
Despite a tough season, and the loss of six seniors to graduation, the Westhampton Beach baseball team will keep putting in the work this off-season, and be prepared for 2026.
