The upcoming WHB golf season presents exciting opportunities and challenges for returning and incoming players, especially with the loss of three starting seniors.
The absence of Owen Jessop, Reid Groth, and Charlie Beasley will be noticeable due to their impact on the team. They all put in a tremendous amount of time and effort into the game and produced great seasons for Westhampton Beach.
One of the new players we expect to see next year is incoming senior Robby Schumacher. Robby said, “I am very excited to join the team. I have been working hard on my game and feel I have a lot to bring to the table for the team to succeed.” Keep an eye out for Robby next year, as he will most likely be in the starting lineup.
Some of the returning players this year include Zach Berger, the 2024 county champ, and Dagny Beasley, the first female golfer in Westhampton Beach history to go to States after her fourth-place finish.
Dagny said, “I think the team is going to be strong next year with so many returning players. Rising sophomores and juniors—Caden Padavan, Dan Schumacher, and Nico Arena—will be stepping up big next season after losing four starting seniors.”
Upcoming senior Zach Berger said, “I still think that we will be a top team in our league and the county. We have a lot of young talent who have all improved since last season.”
This is reassuring, as the Westhampton Beach golf team looks forward to a strong season next year.
