Science teacher Ms. Erickson – Miss Klement – started teaching at WHBHS in 1989 right after she graduated from college. She said, “At a very early age I knew I wanted to be a teacher and to follow in my father’s footsteps. I saw the connections he made with his students and I saw the impact he would have on their futures as he was very passionate about helping them succeed in school.”
She first got the job at WHBHS after meeting a former colleague during a summer school teaching job. Over the years, she taught many classes and loved helping students learn about science. Mrs. Erickson said she will even miss small things like driving to work with her husband.
Mrs. Erickson feels proud of all the students she has taught during her long career. Her students will miss her kind and patient teaching style. Sophomore Nico Arena, who had Mrs. Erickson for Biology, said, “I love Ms Erickson and miss her fun, but also informational class.”
Deciding to retire was a hard choice to make, but Mrs. Erickson is looking forward to spending more time with her family. She will help her daughter with her new baby coming in September and help her son plan his wedding in October. Ms. Erickson also wants to take care of her mother and have some time for herself.
Now she is excited to begin a new chapter in her life with her family.
Thank you for 36 years, Mrs Erickson.
