Tanks, Raffles & Food, Oh My!

December 22nd 2015 is Kommer’s 9th Annual Oikos Open House! Robert Lochren, WHB Alumni who has had Kommer in previous  years and has gone to previous open houses, said ” It’s a fun experience where you get to show family and friends your tank, accept awards and do raffles.”

It’s a great way for marine students to come together and have a good time and show their friends and family how hard they’ve worked on their tanks during the year. They work really hard to prepare for this open house. Laura Mantovani, a WHB senior, said, “To prepare, usually students bring in the foods and beverages for the night. Other students that take environmental/ marine make “awards” (drawings on paper plates that have meanings such as: The person who always works on their tanks the most or most likely to help out). A presentation is made by a student to be played in the background on the whiteboard.”

Mantovani says “Overall it’s just a really fun event where you can bring anyone you want and have a good time with people.” The open house is open to everyone. Its in the wet lab at 6:30, come support the marine students and all the work they put into this years’ open house.
