This weekend the Westhampton Beach Cheerleaders completed at Section XI cheer competition at Sachem East High School.

The girls competed in the small school division and placed 8th out of 12 teams. However, this season, large schools like Riverhead, Babylon, Rocky Point and William Floyd are putting their best 12 girls on the mat, making for a unfair advantage.

Co-captain of the cheer team, Kat Fennell, said, “I am looking forward to the finals in February where we will have a chance to place higher and all the teams will be in categories based on actual school size.”
