The city is always a great place for Christmas fun, but Long Island has fun places too. Looking for something fun to do with family and friends this holiday? Then this is the place for you. There are a lot of fun things to do at Christmas time on Long Island. Many cool things are happening in Suffolk County.

The Holiday Lights Spectacular is at Jones Beach from November 20th to January 4th Sunday-Thursday dusk to 10pm and Friday and Saturday dusk to 11pm. Its 20 dollars per car on weekdays and 25 dollars for Fridays, weekends and holidays. The Holiday Lights Spectacular offers 150 displays and animated displays synced to holiday music, snacks and hot beverages, choirs, pictures with Santa and more!

Ice Skating is always fun and a great activity to do around the holiday season. If you want to beat the really cold weather you could always go to The Rinx in Hauppauge. But if you want to get the real winter experience and freeze, Ice Skating outside is the way to go. Mitchell Park Ice skating Rink in Greenport offers rates for weekdays to adults for $5, and kids and senior citizens for $3 plus skate rental if needed. And weekend prices for adults are $10 and kids and senior citizens for $7. The Greenport ice skating rink also offers season passes and a family night.

New York City also has a lot of things to do in the winter. Besides the crowd that floods Times Square like the Rockefeller Tree Lighting Ceremony and the New Years Eve celebration,  there are a lot of low key things to do as well, like plays at the New York City Theater. The Radio City Music Hall Spectacular is playing until December 31st. The Nutcracker is playing until January 3rd. Opening night for A Christmas Carol is December 21st. How the Grinch Stole Christmas is playing at the theater until December 28th. And Mariah Carey is playing at the Beacon Theater from December 15th to the 21st.

Now that you know some of the places to explore for your wintertime fun you can spend time with your family for days to come until Christmas! Have fun seeing the light shows, going ice skating and going to the city for great shows!
