Lost Appetites for WHB’s Lacking Lunch

Pizza…or cardboard with sauce?

WHBHS’s school lunch is in the hot seat.

The high school’s lunch was once a great meal for lunch with great snacks, fun lunches, and even frozen yogurt, but now it has turned to a limited option meal with mediocre drink options. The Frozen Yogurt is gone, and the meals have gotten progressively worse, with pizza with the texture of cardboard.

About WHB school lunch, junior Annabella Reilly said, “It’s not well cooked, and the pizza is hard on the bottom and burnt on top!  The only reasonable thing to eat is bagels and wraps.”

I spoke to chef Foley about his opinion on the school lunch and why he thinks it’s going to get better, He said, “The pizza bread now we have is a pizza is called Big Daddy’s we’re trying to get more of that in because that’s the best pizza that we can get our hands on. We’re trying to do the best we can, but having product coming in this is not easy, but we’re working on it. Big Daddy’s has the best pizza — we are getting more.”

The lack of FroYo has been another issue students are complaining about. Chef Foley said about the issue, “The ice cream machine is ‘busted,’ but it probably will be ready by the time spring comes.” This may upset most students who haven’t had the FroYo at WHB.

One of the reasons for the decrease in the quality may be the food supply shortage that is happening nationally, so WHB students may need to be patient until the effect of Covid passes.  For now, an option could be to pack your own lunch.
