Best Sunset Spots

Ally Downs, Staff Writer

If you live on Long Island and have never watched the sunset, are you really from Long Island? Watching the sunset is a tradition most locals are familiar with. Dazzling, peaceful, breathtaking are all words used to describe the scenery.

For those of you who have never seen, here are the five most perfect places to chase the sunset in the Hamptons.

1.  Tuthill Lane, Remsenburg

Tuthill Lane in Remsenburg is a dead end. At the end of the road you can park and walk down a little beach or just sit on some rocks.

2.   Harbor Road, Westhampton

Harbor Road in Westhampton, is a dead end of a little street off Dune Road. The view is of all of Remsenburg, a large opening with a little sitting area where you can bring a blanket and enjoy the different colors being formed.

3.   Sunswyck Lane, Westhampton Beach

Sunswyck Lane is a quiet dead end road off Seafield Lane, right outside of Main Street. You won’t get a direct view of the sun as it sets, but you’ll get to see the different colors as the sky is transformed.

4.   Quogo Neck Lane, Quogue

Quogo Neck Lane is a resting area created by the town of Quogue for locals and visitors to hangout and watch the sky. There’s a gazebo and a long dock with benches where you can sit and talk with friends or family.

5.   Shinnecock Inlet, Hampton Bays

Shinnecock Inlet is where the bay meets the ocean between Southampton and Hampton Bays. There’s parking to go fishing, boating and surfing at the beach. Also, there are two restaurants, Sundays and Oaklands. You can eat while enjoying a view or you can just park and walk down the pier.
