Jessicka Alvarado, a sophomore at Westhampton Beach High School, was born in Guatemala and moved to the United States at the age of nine. Although it was very hard for Jessicka to adjust to the new customs and a completely different language, she has challenged herself both in and out of school since the start. She loves volunteering at Bide-a-wee and helping her community. In her free time, Jesscika enjoys swimming, playing volleyball and most importantly, spending time with her family. This is Jessicka’s first year writing for The Hurricane Eye.
