With a 28-1 record for his position as head JV Coach, WHB physical education teacher Jeff Doroski has made his mark at WHB and many hope he continues to coach and lead his teams to many more wins.

Coach Doroski has had very good success here as a coach at WHB. He says his success is due to the players and coaching staff that has allowed him to achieve such a good record.  “Because of the way the football program has been run here and the fact that we get no less than 48 players on the JV roster, and you know number breeds competition so we constantly have guys coming out and working hard trying to earn a starting spot on the team. You also have to look at the guys who coach them, Coach Mensch, Coach Peters and I do a really good job getting the young guys ready to play.”

His coaching abilities lead Doroski’s Mercy baseball team to a state championship in 2003. “I was the varsity baseball coach at Mercy and the team I was coaching went on to win the state championship.” He also noted that was his best coaching moment during his career. Success also comes with failure and Doroski told us that at some small schools where he used to work, “I endured some very tough years at a small school where we went 0-8 or 1-7.”

Coach Doroski has been at WHB for four years.  He said, “I love WHB. I am very fortunate to be here.  I love the community and how they come out to support all their athletics, especially football. It has really been a blessing for my family and me to end up here to be here now for the past four years.”

Former QB/LB sophomore Riley Miller said, “Doroski is one of the best coaches I ever had. He challenged the way we thought about the game while making it fun.”

WR/LB sophomore Thaddeus Hill said, “I think he’s a solid all-around great guy.  He’s a great coach with a good play book.”

Coach shared, “I love coaching JV football and love getting you guys ready to play Friday nights, Saturday afternoons, and to compete for the division and county title. I also love working with Coach Peters and Coach Mensch.”  He confirmed he has no intention of going up to coach at the varsity level.

Coach Jeff Doroski has certainly left his mark already as the JV football coach, but he isn’t done yet.  We wish him continued success coaching for the Hurricanes.
