Alex Rodriguez is a player that has done things with his bat, that the likes of Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron and Reggie Jackson could only have dreamed about doing. A-Rod is one of those players that we get to see once in a generation.

As the youngest player to hit 600 home runs, Alex Rodriguez should be in the Hall of Fame. Look at the kind of numbers he has produced 2939 hits, 654 homeruns, a career of .299 batting average and an on base percentage of .384. Just by that number alone he could be in the Hall of Fame. But sadly his career has been tainted. After admitting to taking steroids, and now people believe he should not be in the hall because he cheated.

A-rod was a great baseball player before he took steroids. When A- Rod played for Seattle in 1996,  he was only 21 years old and he hit over 50 homeruns that year. For a 21 year old to hit that many homeruns in only his third season is amazing. Also, his third season was the first full season he had played.

Alex was going into the path to become a Hall of Famer way before he took steroids. If A- Rod never took steroids he would still be a great player.  Face it baseball fans, Alex played in the so-called “Steroid Era”. A lot of players were taking steroids. If you think about it, not only were hitters taking steroids but so were pitchers. Great pitching stops great hitting and for some players it did but it did not stop A-Rod. He still was hitting great.

The Hall of Fame is for special people in baseball that could play the game so well that they should get recognized for their ability and A- Rod’s ability should be recognized. Alex has one of the best swings in baseball up there with Mickey Mantle and Reggie Jackson. When he hits he makes everything look easy. Everyone makes mistakes. He knows that it was stupid to enhance his game to take it because he was already great, he was going to have a great career not matter what he did. He thinks about this everyday, especially now that he was suspend for the whole 2014 baseball season. One thing he did should not make him not go into the hall.
