All hail the mighty seniors! It’s the year we’ve all looked forward to: our last. But is the last year of high school really all its cracked up to be?
Senior year comes with many privileges: we rule the school, we can go out to lunch, we can wear togas, we can bring dates from other schools to prom, and we have Senior Day. Seniors are often the captains of sports teams and the leaders of clubs. But along with these privileges come the stressful college applications, last minute SATs, and annoying homework assignments.
For Melinda Zavesky, going out to lunch is “a refresher” in her day. Courtney Sidor and Jarrell Claireborne agree, saying that going out to lunch is their favorite part of being a senior.
Courtney feels that underclassmen are somewhat scared of the seniors, saying “underclassmen act differently around seniors and let them go first in the hall.” Allie Peraino feels differently saying she “doesn’t feel superior to the underclassmen yet.”
Many seniors seem to be stressing about college. Taylor Montanaro says she “isn’t enjoying senior year now because of college stuff, but it will hopefully be more fun when it’s over.”
Michelle Cardo agrees, saying “after college stuff is due, I’m just gonna chill.” Riley Bean feels that “although the year is stressful, the senior privileges make it easier on me.”
No matter how you feel about being a senior, it will all be over on June 24th. So savor your larger German Deli iced tea, the annoying hugs from your mom, and the hangout sessions with your friends, because soon we will be moving on to the next stage of our lives.
