The WHB annual Polar Plunge was held Saturday, November 26th to help raise money for our Adopt-a-family program!

The Polar Plunge is an event held every winter – participants enter the ocean despite the frigid temperatures to raise money for a good cause.

According to Mrs. Taylor, student council advisor, “This will be our third year hosting the Polar Bear Plunge, and each year we raise around $500.  We have many generous people in this community who come to watch and make donations for our cause.”

Sophomore Maggie Alford said, “It’s a fun unique way to raise money for a good cause! I look forward to it every year.”

“Students should know that this event is a memory that will stay with them forever.  Whether you are taking the plunge or just coming down to support your friends, everyone involved has a great time and does so for such an amazing cause.”

Anyone who will be plunging needs to sign a release waiver and that the suggested fee to plunge is $20.  The plunge will be at 10am sharp, and remember to bring a towel and a sweatshirt!”

Between the Polar Plunge, bake sales, and the Powderpuff Game, the  student government has raised over $1,200 for Adopt-a-family.

Freshman Helena Jones says, although the water was “very cold, it was really fun and for a good cause.” She added, “I would definitely recommend doing it to anyone.”
