During March 26-28, WHBHS’ Robotics team, 3171, competed at the SBPLI Long Island Nationals competition at Hofstra University. Up against 60 teams, 3171 came out on top winning the finals!

Junior Jack Buenten exclaimed, “It was an incredibly proud moment to win at Hofstra, the whole team worked together to create a strategy and collaborated with their alliance partners to outscore the other team and win. The whole team is excited and looking forward to traveling to St. Louis.”

Sophomore Alex Johnson comments astonished, “I didn’t expect to win.”

Junior Steven Nolan comments on how he felt at winning Hofstra, “When we won at Hofstra, the team as a whole felt this overwhelming sensation of enthusiasm, happiness, and, more than anything, victory. We are very much excited to go to St. Louis for the championship.”

Winning at Hofstra means the team will be travelling to St. Louis, Missouri during April 22-25. They will be one of over 600 hundred teams from around the world competing. Buenten explains, “The competition will provide students with the opportunity to explore colleges and scholarships, exchange ideas with students from different areas of the globe, to be part of a sporting event for the mind.”

A livestream coverage of the championship will be available the Wednesday before the competition starts at robotics.nasa.gov OR www.thebluealliance.com.
