The WHB cast is performing Don’t Drink the Water by Woody Allen, directed by Rosemary Cline and director’s assistant Catherine Penn. The fall play will be showing at the Westhampton Beach High School auditorium in November.

It has many twists and turns, and will be great entertainment.

The play takes place during the Cold War in Russia. It is about a group of tourists who take pictures of a restricted area in a communist country. The communist police think that they are spies and chase them to the American embassy where they are safe… for now. The head of the embassy Ambassador Magee puts his clumsy and irresponsible son, Axel, in charge of the embassy while he is gone to deal with other business. The tourist family’s goal is to escape the country without being caught. The play is full of exciting “plot twists” as Angela Yu, stage manager, said. It is all about the family trying to escape, but there are many complications.

The cast and crew have been working very hard. To make the play a success, many people are needed. Some of the jobs include….

Costume designer

Prop builder

Actor/Actresses

Sound board

Lights

Make-up artist

Stage crew- “You have to make sure the floor is clean so that the actors don’t miss any q’s or anything. We have to make sure that everything is out of the way and back in its original place.” (The props) (Angela Yu, Stage Manager).

The audition process for the actors and actresses was to first sign up on the play board, which is located outside of the cafeteria. The auditions were held after school and were located in the back band hallway, located near the LGI. The people who auditioned were given a script to practice. They were called into the auditorium where they would then perform a few lines in front or Ms. Cline and Ms. Penn. Then in the next few days the callbacks would be up. This is how the audition process works. If you are an up-and-coming actor or actress, sign-up for the next play or musical.

The play will be performed on Friday November 6th,Saturday the 7th, and Sunday afternoon the 8th. Come see the play!
